…is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.
Welcome to the first post in our Virtues series, where we tap some of the greatest minds in history to give you something to think about and something to discuss. Each quote, phrase or fact applies to one of the beers in our Virtue Series, currently consisting of PAX (Peace) Pale Ale, LIBERTAS (Liberty) Double IPA and GRAVITAS (Gravity) Oatmeal Stout. These quotes will be found on the beer labels and cross posted throughout our social media channels all to lead you, the audience back here to get more context and to engage in open conversation.
New Agorist cares about two things. Making great beer, and living our values. Since we can’t transmit beer digitally, this is where you’ll find the latter. With that said, we thought this quote was a great place to start. As the author of this blog series with my own curated perspectives and biases (which I urge you to discuss and disagree with in the comments below), my opinions often differ with that of french philosopher Albert Camus’. It is for that fact that I love this quote. We need not agree fully with someone to find value in them or find an opportunity to grow and learn. All we need is freedom and a community that is willing to examine ideas; popular or controversial, new or old, and see how they stand up to the scrutiny of evidence and reason. The Agora is afterall, a free market of ideas.
We invite you to leave your thoughts in the comments below. Love this quote? Dislike ol’ Albert? Want to share what it means to you? Let the community know!
